Blogspot.com changed to blogspot.in

Recently Google had started redirecting Indian blogspot visitors to blogspot.in domains as a measure to enable censorship. Actually the blogspot.com has not changed to blogspot.in. Th real truth is that the blogname.blogspot.com started redirecting to blogname.blogspot.in and it will help Google to remove contents from the blog if they are requested to do so by the concerned local authorities.

Bloggers are in a doubt that whether it will affect the SEO rankings of the blogspot sites. Some blog owners are expressing their concern and thought of leaving blogspot. Bloggers doesn't require leaving Blogspot. The redirection was made because the local law has made it statutory for all domain publishers to make the necessary arrangements to control the content in their domains. Otherwise the blogging sites and social networking sites will be blocked in the country.

Because of this Google started redirecting Indian Blogger Visitors to Blogspot.in Domains. Recently Twitter also made some changes to enable the function of content censorship in specific countries to comply with the local laws.

From last 31st Jan 2012 bloggers were automatically redirected with ccTLD [Country-Code Top Level Domain] extensions. Read ccTLD details in the article Google Blogspot will be added with ccTLD.

If you live in India and you are accessing a blogspot blog then your [blogname.blogspot.com] will be redirected to [blogname.blogspot.in].

Most of the people were not aware about this recent updating from Google and are realizing the truth. It was an important and good updating from the Blogspot for those countries which require censorship for free online publishing.

The transition has made some bad for SEO ranks of the blogs because of duplicate blogspot content in other hosts. Google is trying to find the ways to resolve this issue and it will not take much time for them to solve this.

The news about addition of ccTLD is real and it is not a rumour. The news is given in the google support and you can read the details there.

Blogspot.in change is done automatically and a blog owner doesn’t need to bother about the redirection. A .in extension will not affect the blog traffic or SEO rank.
